The prompt reaction of the community, police and a private security company led to the arrests of two men who had robbed a cash loan business in Odendaalsrus.
On 10 January a 41-year-old employee of a cash loan business in Church Street was confronted by two unknown men who pushed her inside the business premises. She had just returned from purchasing a cooldrink.
She tried to fight back, but was hit in the face with a piece of metal.
One of the perpetrators took an undisclosed amount of cash. The employee managed to press the panic button and residents, police members, and a private security company responded. The perpetrators, 31 and 40 years old, were arrested by WO Johannes du Plessis of the Odendaalsrus police. The two men have been charged with business robbery.
