A Hennenman tavern owner, his wife, and 15-year-old daughter were robbed at knife and gunpoint and severely assaulted by four armed men.
The family was busy serving customers in a tavern next to the Hennenman taxi rank when the assault and robbery took place.
“On 4 March, at about 22:05, members of the Hennenman police were busy with a vehicle patrol when they were informed about the robbery,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison office for the Lejweleputswa police.
Thakeng says the tavern owner fought with one of the suspects and was stabbed in his stomach. His wife was stabbed in her head and back. The 15-year-old girl was hit on her head and sustained an open wound.
An undisclosed amount of cash, two cellphones and the keys of an Isuzu single-cab bakkie were robbed. The men fled on foot towards the taxi rank and jumped over the railway line. The family was admitted to a hospital in Matjhabeng for medical treatment, says Thakeng.
A case of business robbery was registered for further investigation. Anyone with information leading to the arrests of these armed robbers must contact Det. Sgt. Jan Ndayi of Hennenman Detective Services on 082-466-7940 or the Crime Stop number 08600-10111.
