The executive mayor of the Matjhabeng Municipality, Thanduxolo Khalipha, has handed over the completed road project in Nyakallong ward 36, of converting gravel roads to paved roads, to residents. The work on this 3 km stretch of road forms part of the municipality’s initiative to pave and tar all streets within its jurisdiction.
The R 33 924 038 project was funded through MIG over a 60-week period. It was completed within five months.
A total of 140 individuals were hired to complete the project, including 44 women, 19 young men and two people with disabilities. Ten local subcontractors were also hired for the project.
