Five people drowned during a sangoma ritual, which was being performed in the Vet River.
Khanyisile Skade was holding her daughter Kelebohile Kototsa (12) so as to perform rituals on her, when the child was swept away.
Four male congregants tried to rescue her, but they too drowned. Two bodies are still missing. The deceased are Kelebohile, Tefo Katotsa (39), Tshediso Manong (29), Tshepo Moleleki (34) and someone identified only as Shemanyane (37).
