The final event of the TB Classic, scheduled to take place at the Penbritte Equestrian Centre in Gauteng, will be held on 9 and 10 September, and Shaylene Basson and her two steeds, Galileo and High Society, have been invited.
This event is by invitation only and is attended by top equestrians in South Africa.
The journey started in April when Shaylene took part in her first TB Classic On Galileo, where she won the 90 cm show jumping class. That was the first leg of the series.
In the second leg of the TB series, Shaylene and Galileo placed first in the A2 speed class, and came first in the 90 cm show jumping class. They competed against 36 other riders.
On her horse High Society, a rescued race horse, Shaylene finished second in both the A2 speed class and the 90 cm show jumping class.
On 19 and 20 August the third leg of the tournament took place and Shaylene came first in the A2 speed class with Galileo. With High Society she ended among the top ten.
Shaylene and Galileo are top qualifiers with 83 points. The runner-up only has 62 points.
The duo are currently the highest ranked over the three qualification shows. They have won four out of the six classes.
