Sibanye Stillwater, which owns Beatrix Gold Mine in the Goldfields, has announced another round of retrenchment talks for its South African gold operations. This could affect more than 4 000 employees and contractors.
The possible cuts follow existing processes, while the group says its Beatrix 1 shaft has not been able to deliver on planned production.
The company cut more than 1 000 jobs during a process concluded in December, though this was well below the number affected by the talks.
According to a statement the company has identified a need to address losses at the Beatrix 1 shaft.
