Stewardship 0%, Pride 100%; Accountability 0%, Greed 100%; Responsibility 0%, Hatred 100%; Integrity 0%, Lies 100%; Honesty 0%, Immorality 100%.
These characteristics are not of colour or race, they can take over any heart. Temptation comes in a time of weakness to anyone. We cannot wonder why our city, country and the world for that matter, is on its head.
Every possible destructive characteristic has gripped the hearts of our leaders, and filters down into society. Or is it the other way around?
Spending a night of darkness again due to cable theft or the sorts, has me wanting to scream out the plea for us to awaken to the light of Truth!
How smart are we to have no fear of God? Every single human will give an account before the One who sees all, and yet waits for us to turn from our wicked ways. Proverbs says that the fear (reverence) of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge/wisdom. The lack of fear has taken us down the path of stupidity. Let’s take the single generational mindset we live in, for example. Consume everything we can now while we destroy the future of our kids.
“They can sort out their own problems,” we say, and continue to push, force, bribe and squeeze the life out of economies so we can live better for today. It’s an “all about me” adult.
Meanwhile, back at the original drawing board for humanity, it is written: Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf (Proverbs 11:28). Dishonest money dwindles away (now I get why enough is never enough), but whoever gathers (works for it) little by little, makes it grow. (Proverbs 13:11). The greedy will bring ruin to their households, but the one who hates bribes, will live (Proverbs 15:27). When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom (Proverbs 11:2).
What example are we setting for our children? I think we nicely fit the description “wicked and perverse” generation. Repent from old and wrong ways, and convert to the only path that leads to Life. (John 14:6).
This is our only hope.
