Acting on intelligence-driven information, four men were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition by members of the Welkom Anti-Gang unit.
The arrest was based on information received from Crime Intelligence about a suspicious vehicle, a Nissan double cab bakkie with no registration numbers, that had four occupants travelling from Odendaalsrus towards Welkom.
On Sunday, 19 May, at about 01:30 the information was operationalised and the vehicle was identified and intercepted near Phakisa Raceway.
The suspects have appeared in the Welkom Magistrates’ Court.
