The Welkom Flying Squad members were summoned to a motor vehicle accident scene on the R730 road between Bronville and Virginia in which three people were seriously injured.
The accident happened on Tuesday (8 April) at about 09:15, when two vehicles, a SAPS Canter, used for passenger transport, and an ambulance had a collision.
The occupants of both vehicles were already receiving medical attention from emergency services when the police arrived.
It is alleged that the SAPS canter was driven by one adult male with no passengers on board.
The emergency services vehicle was occupied by one adult male and one adult female.
“The three occupants were taken to the hospital after they sustained serious injuries.
