A significant outreach effort aimed at fostering faith, instilling hope, and cultivating love within the community was orchestrated by the Churches in Action (CIA) in Welkom.
Enthusiastic volunteers from over ten churches and various community organisations united in a collective endeavour to serve others on Sunday, 12 May. Operating across five distinct stations, they offered a range of essential services.
These stations included spiritual ministry, where individuals received personalised prayer and spiritual support, as well as a health station where basic health screenings like blood pressure and glucose level checks as well as flu vaccinations were provided.
Personal care services were also available, offering nail, foot, and hair care. Additionally, individuals were provided with blankets and clothes for warmth, and food parcels to meet immediate nutritional needs.
The event, attended by more than 400 individuals, was a demonstration of compassion and care.
Each participant was not only showered with love but also given the opportunity to restore their sense of dignity through these personal care services. It was an occasion where every individual could return home feeling valued and special.
For the volunteers, being part of this impactful event was deeply rewarding. Through their acts of service, they not only shared their gifts but also made a lasting investment.
This marked the third successful outreach event organized by the CIA. Prior to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, over 200 volunteers had engaged in activities such as filling potholes and town clean-up initiatives.
Even during the pandemic, the organisation persevered, serving a staggering 49 000 meals to those in need.
Ministry leaders interested in joining hands with the CIA to spread love within the city are encouraged to reach out to Past. Jiaan Joubert at 073-339-8796.
“Let’s continue to embody the love of His church and extend care to our community,” says Joubert.
