The Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in Welkom needs help to identify and find a suspected rapist.
The alleged rape happened on 5 August 2024 in Kutlwanong, Odendaalsrus.
“It is alleged that the 25-year-old female victim was at the taxi rank where she boarded a white Hyundai going to section K5. An argument ensued when the Lesotho foreign national driver took a different direction towards Welkom. It is further alleged that the suspect put a cloth on the victim’s face, making her unconscious before he allegedly raped her.
Upon regaining consciousness, the victim managed to jump out of the vehicle and ask for help,” says Sgt. Palesa Thabang, Lejweleputswa Corporate Communication and Liaison”
An identikit of the suspect was compiled.
He is 1.7 meters tall, medium built, fair in complexion, and estimated to be aged between 30 and 35.
