A man who allegedly posed as a taxi driver and raped a teenage girl at gunpoint in Riebeeckstad is wanted by the police.
A 12-year-old girl was standing at Marumo stop waiting for a taxi when a black vehicle with no registration number stopped next to her and she got in. The bogus taxi driver told the girl that he would be picking up his own child at 2010 in Thabong.
He then apparently drove towards Riebeeckstad and raped the child at gunpoint in an empty field. She tried to flee and fell. He then forced her back inside the vehicle and dropped her in Orange Groove, Thabong.
She went home and never told anyone about the rape ordeal. In February, she wrote a note to her aunt telling her about the rape. A case of statutory rape was reported and registered for further investigation.
