Isaiah 9:6-7 reads: Unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given.
As Christmas approaches, believers and non-believers alike look forward to the time of year when fond childhood memories of gifts and feasts and carols and treats play reminiscently through our minds.
As believers who love Jesus, it is a wonderful time to remember the greatest gift given to mankind: Jesus Christ. This question from a well-known worship song so aptly asks: “What other King leaves his throne?”
And with this we are compelled to remember why Jesus came. After all, we were instructed to remember daily what Jesus came to accomplish on our behalf.
In 1 Cor 11:25 we read, As often as you do this . . .do this in remembrance of me . . ., referring to communion. Jesus came to intentionally restore us to a loving Father who designed us to experience life in the abundance of peace, joy and love. Now we find our life in Him as Acts 17:28 says: For in Him we live and move and have our being . . .
So, amidst the gifts and the feasts and special time with our loved ones and friends, may we embrace the very same spirit of reconciliation with which Jesus embraced us. May we intentionally include those who perhaps view this season as the loneliest time of the year.
Let us see this season as an opportunity to extend to even one person the heart of the Father. It is in pouring out our lives for others and when we see ourselves as an extension of the Kingdom on earth that we find our own purpose and meaning.
With a grateful heart I wish you all a very blessed Christmas season and a very joyful 2025.
May I encourage you to boldly approach a new year with expectation – not because of your own resolutions, but because of his.
May this hope anchor you in 2025. ) Lana Archontakis is of the Kingdom Ministries.
