Members attached to the Welkom Public Order Police have opened two dockets of public violence after a group of protestors roads with stones in Khotsong, Bothaville

Members attached to the Welkom Public Order Police have opened two dockets of public violence after a group of protesters barricaded roads with stones in Khotsong, Bothaville, on Wednesday, 19 March.

It is alleged that the disgruntled community members gathered in the morning on the day.

According to the information, the community members will be marching to the offices of the Nala Municipality to hand over a memorandum.

This after a meeting that was scheduled to take place on Friday, 14 March, was cancelled.

Schools in Khotsong have been disrupted due to the protest and are currently closed. On account of the disruptions, the Nala Municipality offices in Bothaville are also closed at this stage.

The police members on the ground are currently monitoring the situation and it is under control.

There have been no reports of arrests having been made.
