Feed the Hungry, in conjunction with the Rheederpark Ext 2 Pastors Forum, launched the Rheederpark Feeding Scheme on Human Rights Day, 21 March.

“The Rheederpark Ext 2 Pastors Forum met with me to establish a feeding scheme in the area as various families are unemployed and have children that are in school. These children need food to be able to do well in school,” says Dr Igor Scheurkogel, ward 35 councillor.

The day started with a fun run around the community that commenced at 07:00, then the Feeding Scheme launch event which started at 12:00.

“Human Rights Day was used to launch this initiative. We informed the community of the project, and we also invited local and national government agencies to attend so that they can offer support and give advice to the community on how to help themselves,” says Scheurkogel.

The executive mayor of Lewjeleputswa, Veronica Ntakumbana, and other members of the mayoral committee were present at the launch.

After all the speeches and introductions, food was given to the children who attended the function.
