The Noeang Arts foundation has collaborated with the Healing Through Arts Foundation to showcase Thabong’s very first double bill production called Kalafo – the healing.

It will be held at the Thabong Arts and Culture centre, and the whole centre will be converted into a theatre.

The production features two shows: Mmakoena by Mohapi Maphale and a Solo piece called Thabang by Katleho Sekhosana.

The aim of the curators is to create a high-end show to attract sponsors and to show schools around the community what they can offer. They also aim to encourage arts amongst youth in Welkom.

The vision Sekhosana has is to give the Welkom community an option to do arts locally and not have to travel to bigger cities.

The two foundations want to create a place to practice for people who are interested in anything involving arts.

There will be workshops provided to train people who are interested in arts and are willing to learn, and to locate those who have the talent.

“We want to heal through arts and create an art landscape in our town,” says Sekhosana.

All the schools in Welkom and Thabong are welcome to attend the showcase so that the youth can see raw local talent, which could inspire them to be in the arts community.

The show is hosted by the Lejweleputswa Arts and Culture Centre and it will be a 3-day production, running from 28 to 30 September.

Tickets cost R20 for primary school learners, R50 for adults and R10 if school children wear uniform. An access pass for the whole three days costs R100.
