To commemorate Women’s Month, Welkom’s Partnership Policing held a prayer session for all women in blue at a church in Welkom church.

The session was ledheld under the leadership of by Col Beulah Siyaya, visible policing commander, led the special session.

It was held at Lewende Water Church in Seemeeu Park on Sunday (14/08), and women from different departments within the Welkom SAPS attended.

Siyaya opened the session with Scripture reading. She also prayed for women and social ills such as gender-based violence, femicide and domestic violence.

Guests who were present include Capt. Kunini Kganare, Capt. Nomathemba Motlomelo, Capt. Kenalemang Mphatsoe, Capt. Andries Coetzee, Sgt. Motshidisi Mochudi, Betty Vinger, Modiehi van der Merwe, Mpho Kapeng and Dinono Khotle.

Pastor André Henderson, minister of thiscongregation Lewende Water-congregation also prayed for women in the SAPS and the killing of women in general.

“The prayer session was inspirational because women were encouraged and empowered to thrive in their daily lives, and to serve Welkom residents with pride,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the Lejwelepu­tswa SAPS.
