Practise pressing on

The one thing that history commonly records is the actions of the brave. Those who have faced fear and adversity and have persevered and triumphed.

The apostle Paul gives us the status of those who put their trust in God and calls them righteous, bold and “those who cannot be shaken”.

It is a great encouragement to know that we can run into 2022 with confidence, knowing who is on our side. It takes a decision and a certain mindset to “sink our teeth into’’ or to be “fully engaged’’ to be able to discover what the Lord has prepared for us in 2022.

In Philippians 3:13-14 we get some powerful wisdom, or life skills, that we can use in this year, when the apostle Paul tells us to focus, forget the past and look forward to what lies ahead, by pressing on.

All of us are on a journey, and to continue to grow into our destiny we have to practice these truths.

Forget the disappointments, failures and hurt from 2021. Shake off the dust that causes us to settle. Carrying this with us will slow us down and we will not be fully alive to the possibilities awaiting us.

We need to practice pressing on – persevering in love and learning to lean on Jesus.

Let Him love you each day and empower you with his grace so that you have love to give and live passionately. He is the only sure thing we can bank on.

We do not know what awaits us this year, but we do know who is with us every day.
