Devastating power outages in June incapacitated the residents of Hennenman and Ventersburg.
The outages lasted between five and seven days and were as a result of a spate of cable theft.
“This crisis highlighted severe deficiencies in the municipality’s procurement processes, marked by significant delays and conflicting information from various departments,” says Maxie Badenhorst, ward 2 DA councillor.
“Despite multiple requests for assistance, inconsistent updates regarding the availability and procurement of the necessary materials were provided to the community.”
Badenhorst says this is placing an immense burden on residents.
