Two suspects have been arrested following the murder of a 40-year-old man who was shot near a tavern in Thabong. On 23 March, the man was fatally shot at about 03:10 just after he exited a tavern. He was taken to a local hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Two suspects have been arrested following the murder of a 40-year-old man who was shot near a tavern in Thabong.

On 23 March, the man was fatally shot at about 03:10 just after he exited a tavern. He was taken to a local hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Members attached to the Welkom Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) swiftly arrested the two suspects hours after the fatal shooting.

After leaving a tavern in Thabong, he was taken to the hospital with a private vehicle, where he was certified dead on arrival.

A case of murder was registered.

While on duty, police members received and traced information on the whereabouts of the suspects. Information led them to a shack occupied by two men in the N1 Section, Thabong.

Upon searching the shack,they found one firearm hidden under a chair. One Norinco pistol, two rounds and one magazine were confiscated.

Two men, both aged 28 years, were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunitions. Police investigations are still underway.
