A foreign national has been arrested for possession of large quantities of crystal meth and the drug Cat in the Welkom CBD.
The 36-year-old foreign national was arrested on Thursday, 31 October.
Members of the police attached to the Welkom Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) were conducting their crime combating duties at about 12:00 when they received information about a man who delivers drugs in the Welkom CBD.
The police acted swiftly and a vehicle matching the description provided, was spotted and pulled off the road by the police.
A male suspect was searched and was found with the drugs hidden on his body. He was subsequently arrested for possession of drugs.
Police found two 40 g crystal meth sachets, three 5 g crystal meth sachets, two small crystal meth sachets weighing 99.65 g, three portions of the drug Cat weighing 3.94 g, and a Dixon scale.
