A former police officer was sentenced to 18 years in jail for fatally shooting his police constable wife.
The former Const. Tshediso Isaac Tsolo (35) attacked his wife and fatally shot her at Reitzpark, Welkom on 17 May 2021 in the early hours of the morning.
The body of the late Const. Sandra Tsolo stationed at the Welkom Police Station was discovered still wearing her night dress at about 07:00 by a passer by.
Tshediso Isaac Tsolo was arrested on the same day and he was charged for murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunitions.
He was granted bail of R20 000 in January.
Tsolo was found guilty and sentenced on 10 November in the Welkom High Court.
The sentence of 20 years for murder, has been suspended for five years. For possessing unlicensed firearm and ammunitions he will spend three years in jail, resulting in serving 18 years in jail.
