The Welkom police, led by the station commander, Brig. Disebo Cezula, together with the Community Police Forum (CPF) Youth Desk Committee, organised a Drive Thru project through which residents and stakeholders donated goods for needy families in the community.

Also involved in the project were Childcare Helpline, the Welkom Neighborhood Watch, Victim Empowerment, SANDSA and many others.

More than 100 bags and 52 boxes of clothing and food were donated.

“The station commander would like to thank everyone and every stakeholder who took part in this project,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the Lejweleputswa SAPS.

“Needy families will be identified by the same team and give the donations to change their lives. It’s clear we do not just arrest people – we identify the needs of the residents we serve and protect, to also meet their needs,”
