The marching band of the SAPS, members of the Odendaalsrus Police Station and other police units held an Easter Awareness Campaign in Odendaalsrus. Delegates visited crime hotspots in Kutloanong and Odendaalsrus. In K8 and Bazabaza Street in K9, two sections of Kutloanong, residents were addressed on forming relationships with strangers on social media, children who are sent on erands on their own to tuckshops and taverns, and children talking to strangers, as many fall victim to rapists. “Never allow anyone to assist you at an ATM, seek help from security or employeed of the bank. Residents must not take law into their own hands, and must report suspicious looking persons or vehicles. Drug dealers must be reported to the police, residents must walk in groups when attending church, especially at night,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the police in Lejweleputswa. Crime prevention pamphlets were handed out to residents during this awareness campaign. Photo: SAPS
