In Welkom they searched 73 vehicles and 189 people in Jan Hofmeyer Road.

The roadblock was organised and led by Col Thenjiwe Mkhumbeni and her team members of the Visible Policing unit, and the Vehicle Crime Investigations unit.

During another roadblock on the R30 at Odendaalsrus, the police stopped 77 vehicles and searched 296 people.

“These roadblocks brought more boots on the ground to ensure police visibility,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the Lejweleputswa police.
