A Brandford woman was kidnapped at knife point and held against her will for several days, before being rescued.
The Brandford police have arrested a 30-year-old man for kidnapping and rape.
On 26 July the 33-year-old woman was walking home from a drinking spree at a tavern when a man known to her offered to take her home.
She was forced into a shack where she was held for several days while he allegedly raped her.
“The sister of the victim reported her missing, and she was subsequently found by the police. A 30-year-old man was arrested by Const. Vuyisile Salemane and Sgt. Kgupiso Mokokoane of Brandfort Police on 29 July.
“Women are sternly warned not to drink until late at taverns and then walk home alone at night,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the lejweleputswa police.
In a separate incident in Thabong on 26 July a disgruntled clinic patient threw a bucket of faeces at a worker.
A 38-year-old man entered the Thabong premises and alleged that the employee of the clinic never provided him with his tablets.
He then threw human faeces on the victim. During the attack clinic files, a heater, a kettle, cups and filing cabinets were affected.
The incident was reported to Thabong police station and a case of assault and malicious damage to property was registered for further investigation.
The suspect was arrested and charged on 30 July. He was warned to appear in the Welkom Magistrate’s Court on 7 August.
