Three foreign nationals were arrested in the Welkom CBD for the illegal possession of a firearm.
On 18 November, members of the Welkom Public Order Policing were on duty and busy with crime combatting next to the shopping mall in the Welkom CBD when they stopped a white Toyota Voxy.
The vehicle had foreign registration numbers from a neighbouring country.
The vehicle was searched and the SAPS found a firearm in the side pocket of the driver’s door. A preliminary investigation led them to a house in Hani Park extension 18 where they found live ammunition.
The occupants of the vehicle (aged 29, 35 and 54) have been charged with possession of a firearm and also unlicensed ammunition. The vehicle was also seized.
