A man from Thabong was arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
On 25 August the crime intelligence unit received information from the residents of Thabong about the man who had a gun with him.
The provincial anti gang unit led by Capt. Freddie Deysel searched a room at one of the hostels in Thabong. They found a Norinco 9mm firearm. The serial number was not clearly visible. There were also eight rounds of live ammunition.
The 28-year-old man could not provide the police with a license for the firearm and he was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
He appeared in the Welkom Magistrate Court on 28 August.
