A 63-year-old pensioner and his 27-year-old son appeared in the Wesselsbron court for armed robbery.

Two men were arrested after five men held up a foreign national businessman and his clients during an armed robbery at a tuckshop in Monyakeng, Wesselsbron.

The robbery occurred on 28 August.

“After the robbery, in which the businessman was injured, a 72-hour activation plan was activated. Neighbouring police stations were informed and roadblocks were set up.

“The occupants of a double cab were stopped in Bothaville, and two suspects were arrested. Police recovered some of the stolen items from the vehicle. The vehicle was also seized,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media relations officer for the Lejweleputswa police.

Two men, aged 63 and 27, were charged with possession of suspected stolen items and business robbery.

The 63-year-old pensioner and his son appeared in the Wesselsbron Court on Friday, 1 September.

The case was postponed to this Friday for bail application.
