“I love challenges; throw me in the river and I will swim,” says Thulisile Nokthula Chavula, the newly appointed accounting manager for the Matjhabeng Fresh Produce Market.
Chavula hails from Welkom, and completed her primary school career at the Morema Phofu Primary School in Thabong.
She finished her high school career at the Teto High School, where she developed her love for Accounting, motivated by her teacher.
Chavula had a few hiccups in life, one of them being funding. She was offered a chance to further her studies at the University of South Africa (Unisa) and the University of Witwatersrand (Wits) but could not due to finances.
Her uncle is also one of the people who contributed to her success as he saved money for her to continue with her education. She ended up pursuing a BCom degree in 2003, and graduated in 2009.
In 2013 she completed her articles and has been thriving ever since at the Afriq company in Johannesburg, where she was promoted to senior manager in three months as the only female in a male-dominated space.
Chavula is offering her services to Matjhabeng municipality as a senior accountant and acting manager for the Matjhabeng Fresh Produce Market.
