The case against the man whose pit bulls mauled and killed the three-year-old Keketso Innocent Saule, Lebohang Pali (23), has been postponed to 23 January 2023.
Pali has been granted R300 bail, which has been extended to his next court appearance.
Pali is facing charges under the Animals Amendment Act, the keeping of vicious dogs.
The toddler was mauled to death by two dogs on Sunday, 20 November.
The child was playing with other children at a house in Sekoti Mpate, Phomolong, when he was attacked.
After the gruesome mauling, residents attacked the dogs with garden spades and stones, and then killed one by setting it on fire.
Members of Welkom Public Order Policing were summoned to the scene and removed the dogs owner to a safe place. The remaining pit bull was taken by the SPCA.
