The medical staff at the Bongani Regional Hospital in Welkom have concluded yet another orthopedic marathon.

On Saturday, 23 November, the team operated on ten orthopedic patients.

Dr Reggie Mkatsane, medical director at Bongani, says their aim is to reduce the backlog of surgeries – due to the high demand of the services.

”Our main contributors of high patient influx are motor vehicle accidents, as well as pedestrian accidents, assaults, falls – especially the elderly and children – and also gender-based violence.

“We would like to raise awareness during the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children,” says Mkatsane.
