At some point or another, most of us have picked up a book and began reading it.
Along the way, you might have lost interest. However, there are also books that you have read that completely captivated you and left a profound impact on your life.
In Psalms 139, David expresses the idea that God has written the story of our lives in a book. Even before our conception, God had already crafted the narrative of our lives, ultimately designed to bring Him glory.
Similar to any story, there exist concealed chapters of loss, disappointment, sickness, and other depths we could not have foreseen.
These are chapters that can take the wind out of our sails, leaving us bewildered and disoriented, sometimes reaching a point where we consider closing the book and ceasing to read – essentially ceasing to live this narrative that God is weaving with our lives.
Some of you reading this may have reached that juncture of wanting to halt your existence.
You might find yourself trapped in a chapter of disappointment or hopelessness.
Even though life has its chapters that will inevitably stagger us, we can find solace in the realisation that our lives are not defined by just one chapter.
The hope we cling onto is that God is crafting a magnificent tale with our lives.
Despite the highs and setbacks we encounter, the unwavering assurance that all circumstances collaborate for the good of those who love God and are called in accordance to his purpose. Rom. 8:28 empowers us to turn the page and embrace a new day.
We can rest in the guarantee that God’s thoughts concerning us are filled with hope and a future (Jer. 29:11).
Your life serves as a story that others are perusing, and generations to come will read.
- Seize today, make the choice to permit God to conclude his story through your life. Allow the chapters of God’s healing, restoration, and forgiveness to be penned so that others may read and discover their own healing. Heinrich Lourens is a zone pastor of the CRC Welkom.
