Nine armed robbery suspects overpowered employees at a filling station in Kutloaning, Odendaalsrus, and bombed an ATM on the premises.

On 29 June at about 01:45, the Odendaalsrus police and a private security company responded to an ATM bombing. They respondents found a white Fidelity plastic bag with R500 cash near a fuel pump, which was apparently dropped by the suspects when they were fleeting.

It is alleged that the armed men approached the employees. Two of them were armed with handguns.

An assailant struck one of the petrol attendants on the forehead with a firearm. A security officer alleged that two shots were fired in his direction and the window of the vehicle was shattered.

“The window of a Super T, Toyota Minibus was damaged as it was parked close to the ATM. Cash that amounts to R600 cash dyed with ink and 9 mm cartridges were seized by the SAPS,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the Lejweleputswa police.
