A graduate in psychology and linguistics and an expert in local government have been appointed in senior positions at the Lejweleputswa district municipality.

Setsego Cathrine Abrams has been appointed as the head of Corporate Services and Edward Lesenyelo as the head of LED, Planning and Tourism.

Abrams was born, bred and educated in Welkom. She is from Thabong, but well-travelled because of employment opportunities and green pastures outside of Welkom.

Her qualifications include a BA (Psychology), BA Honours (Psychology), MA General Linguistics and a MBA.

Abrams’ entire experience in local government, municipalities has been in corporate services.

From junior positions until being appointed as a director, she has 27 years’ experience in local government.

She says her vision has always been to serve and be of service anywhere she was needed.

However her vision expanded as she developed and advanced in her role as a manager and ultimately a director of the department that she had grown to love and understand.

She has made it her vision and mission to ensure that corporate services claims and retains its position at the strategic level of the municipality.

She joined Lejweleputswa with the same vision, albeit more personal from a perspective of being a bona-fide recipient of a good foundation from the community that raised her, Thabong community.

As a career bureaucrat and a technocrat, with her wealth of experience and knowledge, Abrams will ensure that a conducive environment is created and fostered to allow for development, innovation and transformation to thrive within the parameters of good governance and accountability principles.

The second appointee to a head of department is Edward Lesenyelo, who is HOD of LED (Local Economic Development), Planning and Tourism.

Lesenyelo understands this area very well. He was once an acting CEO of Lejweleputswa Development Agency and later moved to Bloemfontein to acquire more experience. He is very developmental in approach.

“In him, we have found the right person for the job. Lesenyelo is a sought-after strategic leader and manager; a dedicated public servant with over 10 years’ experience in the developmental sector,” says the executive Mayor of Lejweleputswa, Cllr Veronica Ntakumbana.

She is pleased with both of these worthy appointments.
