After a lengthy and intensive process of finding a suitably qualified and assertive candidate to lead the administrative arm of the Lejweleputswa District Municipality, a new municipal manager has been appointed.
Motlatsi Lesley Makhetha took over the reigns from the acting municipal manager, Sello More, on 16 October.
“Under his strong leadership and sound governance, we indeed hope and believe that we are led by a visionary. He was appointed after a meticulous and rigorous selection process where he demonstrated extensive experience and knowledge of strategic leadership in a municipal environment in line with the local government regulatory framework.
“He comes with core managerial, financial, supply chain and occupational competencies as he had been accounting officer at various other municipalities during his career. As head of administration, he will be responsible and accountable for functions provided in the local government systems act,” says Khaya Mqeke, spokesperson for Lejweleputswa.
Another new appointment is the chief financial officer (CFO), Kevin Khoabane. He stepped into this role on 2 October.
“This is a man with great vision, a team player, willing to contribute for the betterment of the district. The purse of the municipality is in great hands,” says Mqeke.
