On 30 March at about 21:15, members of Bultfontein Visible Poicing were summoned to an accident scene where they discovered the body of a an African male, lying on his back.
His knee and left foot were broken, and he had sustained a wound to the back of the head. There were multiple injuries to his body.
The deceased was wearing black jean trousers, a yellow vest and white secret socks.
The police also found brown Crocket & Jones shoes a few meters from his head.
There was also a crushed black Nokia cellphone in the vicinity.
He was certified dead at the scene, says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the Lejweleputswa police.
No documents were found in his possession and his identity remains unknown.
“The man is dark in complexion, chubby, he has a moustache, chiskop and could be 40 to 45 years old.
It seems that it was a hit-and-run case and the motorist is still wanted. The body is being kept at Welkom State mortuary for next of kin to identify,” says Thakeng.
A case of culpable homicide has been registered.
