The Sons of Allen (SOA) of the Mt Horeb AME Church in Thabong jacketed 12 new members recently.
Church president Andrew Mopeli says he is delighted that his organisation is changing the global perception that men only comprise 30% of church goers.
Mopeli was speaking during the jacketing ceremony of the new members on 30 March, who are now joining the 13 others who had already been jacketed, and are serving God by showing commitment, dedication and impactful transformation of men.
Mopeli says it is the duty of SOA men to go beyond the walls of the church to bring other men in. He says men should be attracted to church to serve the Lord and the community.
He quoted from the book of John where Andrew went out to bring his brother, Peter, to the Lord; and from Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you’ll be my witnesses, telling people everywhere – in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria and the ends of the earth.”
SOA was established in 1984 in America, and the Episcopal Conference in South Africa adopted the organisation in 2014 where AME Welkom became the pioneer in the Goldfields.
