The mayor of the Tswelopele Municipality, Kenalemang Phukuntsi, appeared in the Hoopstad Magistrate’s Court on 20 May.
She faces five charges of theft, assault and crimen injuria.
“We can confirm that the investigation of this case is at an advanced stage,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the SAPS in Lejweleputswa.
The case has been postponed to 8 June.
