The vibe of the Mediclinic
Vista Eskom Athletic Club FS Virtual Road Race still reverberates.
The virtual race took place on Friday (20/08), Saturday (21/08) and Sunday (22/08).
“As in the past 19 years, it was a big success,” says Hilde du Plessis, organiser of the event.
Participants could complete the walk, jog or run in any province and at any time on these days.
With the theme “Time to Celebrate”, the virtual event was held in aid of CANSA, the Charlotte Moll Haven and the SANBS.
“I want to thank all the participants who entered and shared in the fun,” says Du Plessis.
“In particular I want to thank all the sponsors for making the virtual event possible.”
She describes the occasion as a true celebration of women in honour of Women’s Month.
What made this year even more special was the opportunity to host, in partnership with Vista, this event’s first virtual race in the year of the newspaper’s 50th anniversary.
Participants were excited to see and received their virtual diploma and medal with the completion of the distance they chose to run.
A surprise decision by the main sponsors and the organisers was the issuing of the diploma with a a physical and newly designed medal, which was issued to each entrant.
The winners in each category received a surprise pack.
The 156 participants entered the virtual road race and enjoyed themselves to the fullest completing their different distances -1,5km, 5km or 10km in honour of her, love and joy on their own route of completion and to victory.
The newly designed Mediclinic medal was issued in honour of the Women’s month virtual race, a Time to Celebrate.
