It is not accurate to claim that the executive mayor of the Matjhabeng Local Municipality, Thanduxolo Khalipha, has interfered in the project addressing the sewer backflow issues in Stateway.
“In fact, the executive mayor has a responsibility, among others, to ensure the project’s successful initiation and completion. The project is set to commence shortly, with the contractor having already completed the site establishment,” says Tshediso Tlale, municipal spokesperson.
The initiation of this project will bring hope to the Goldfields Mall and nearby businesses.
Tlali says the mayor and municipal leadership are responsible for overseeing all significant projects to ensure they adhere to the established guidelines and timelines.
“Therefore, this oversight is crucial to mitigate any potential project management risks, such as protests by businesses and local labourers demanding work outside the stipulated laws,” Tlali says.
By taking these proactive measures, the executive mayor is working to prevent disruptions and ensure that the project progresses smoothly, ultimately benefiting the community as planned.
