BREAKING NEWS: Both the executive mayor of Matjhabeng, Thanduxolo Khalipha, and the municipal manager, Adv. Ronald Ngoqo, will have to resign as they have been found guilty and sentenced to imprisonment.

They have both been sentenced to 30 days imprisonment suspended for 30 days, unless they restore the services of, and return the property of an aggrieved resident of Virginia.

The High Court in Bloemfontein has found in favour of Joseph Ndayi, a resident of Saaiplaas whose electricity was wrongfully disconnected, even though he had declared a dispute with the municipality.

The mayor and the municipal manager were found to be in contempt of court as they had not restored the services to Ndayi’s property as ordered to do.

They were also ordered to return, among others, a television set and gardening tools that had been removed by municipal law enforcers in lieu of supposed outstanding debt.
