The recent court victory by the DA against the Matjhabeng municipality regarding the section 139 failed appeal in the Bloemfontein High Court, is one of many failed litigations by the municipality.

The question is, when will this stop?

Who is benefiting from these litigations?

Several publications recently reported about Matjhabeng’s legal status report authored by the senior managers, laying bare the wastage of taxpayers’ money.

Has this report been tabled yet before the council? Who is being held accountable for the reported R300 million wasted on these litigations?

The municipality under the leadership of the convicted executive mayor, David Thanduxolo Khalipha, has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

I will not be surprised if the municipality approaches the Constitutional Court to appeal this judgement so that they can afford themselves time to do what they do best.

The appetite for the three coming equitable shares might push for the Con Court appeal. Watch this space.
