The police have launched a manhunt after the rape of a 21-year-old student.

The victim alleges that on Saturday, 24 December 2022, she went to a well-known pub in the Welkom CBD with two male friends. During the evening she met two unknown men, who invited her to join them.

Later they decided to go to another club. En route to the venue, however, she asked the driver to rather take her home as she was tired. The three men left to go buy food and the driver told the woman that he was going to drop off his friend at his residence first.

When they arrived at a house in St. Helena, Welkom, the victim requested to go to the bathroom. When she returned they called her inside one of the bedrooms.

The two unknown men then took turns in raping her. After the ordeal, she managed to contact her friend, who took her to the Welkom Police Station.

A case of rape has been registered for further investigation, and identikits have been compiled of the two suspects.

Anyone with information that will help trace the suspects can contact Det. Const. Malearongwa Mokoena of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit on 067-703-0610 or the Crime Stop number 08600-10111.
