A manhunt was launched by the Thabong police after a woman was brutally shot.
The police are looking for an unknown man who shot and killed Mathapelo Thabana (51) at her home in Freedom Square in Thabong. The incident took place on Sunday, 24 September, at about 02:00.
According to reports, Thabana was at home with her husband and neighbours when an unknown man opened the door and allegedly fired a gunshot towards her husband, which grazed him on the lower part of the stomach.
The suspect further shot the husband in the right leg, who then managed to go hide in the bedroom. The intruder demanded money from Thabana, who told him that she did not have any.
While the husband was in the bedroom, he heard the intruder ordering Thabana to ask him for money. He then heard several gunshots and the door opened with Thabana falling to the ground inside their bedroom. By that time, the intruder had already left.
Thabana was certified dead by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel. A murder case was registered for further investigation.
No property was taken except for Thabana’s cellphone.
