A foreign national (33) was sentenced to 23 years’ imprisonment for murder and attempted murder, of which 13 years will be suspended for eight. The remaining fifteen years for murder will stand.
Four people were shot and one killed during an incident on 12 April 2021, at a tavern in the K9 Section in Kutloanong.
Three of the victims were taken to a hospital for medical treatment, and the fourth victim died at the scene.
The incident was reported to Odendaalsrus police and a case of murder and attempted murder was registered.
The case was assigned to Det. Sgt Andries Leshoro of Odendaalsrus Detective Services.
The accused, Phoka Zacharia Mohloki, was sentenced to 15 years for murder, eight years for attempted murder, and five years for attempted murder. The imprisonment for murder and attempted murder will run concurrently.
