A North West man was arrested for burning his shack, assaulting his wife and kidnapping his two children, aged two and five.
“Reportedly there was a domestic violence complaint a week ago in Itsoseng, North West, during which a a man assaulted his 32-year-old wife, burned their shack and then vanished with his children,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for ther Lejweleputswa police.
Thakeng says the 47-year-old man was arrested at a house in New Stands, Thabong. The two children were found with him.
“Following the initial complaint, a case of arson, kidnapping and assault was registered in Itsoseng. A preliminary investigation was conducted. Welkom K9 Unit under the leadership of Lt Col. Nolindephi Nogcado followed up on information and made the arrest,” says Thakeng.
The two children were taken to a place of safety in Matjhabeng.
“The investigation team from North West was informed and arrangements were made to fetch the children, as well as the father.”
