The rape of a 13-year-old girl has shocked the Theunissen community to its core.
A municipal employee was arrested after he had allegedly forced the girl into his house and raped her.
On 15 June at about 14:40, the child was on her way home from school when the incident occurred. She was walking next to the Bodiba Primary School in Theunissen when she saw a man whom she knew following her.
He then caught up with her and pulled her into the house where he raped her. After the ordeal he released her.
A case of statutory rape was registered at the Theunissen police station. The 46-year-old suspect was arrested on 20 June. He was charged and appeared in the Theunissen Magistrates’ Court on Monday (26/06).
