Lehlohonolo Nicholas Mokole (29) has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for the murder of his girlfriend, Matshidiso Masisi (32).

On Saturday, 18 March, the police received an anonymous call about an assault on a woman at the Nyakallong Stadium. At the scene, police found blood trails which led them to a house in Nyakallong. They sought entry.

A man opened the door, with blood stains on his shirt. He told the police that he had fought with his girlfriend and that she was asleep.

In the bedroom, police found an unresponsive woman who had sustained multiple stab wounds. The emergency medical services (EMS) were summoned to the scene and she was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

A preliminary investigation revealed that there was a history of domestic violence between the accused and the deceased. It was discovered that the accused had dragged the victim from the stadium to his house.

He was found guilty and sentenced by the Free State High Court in Virginia.

The case was assigned to Det. Sgt. Tseliso Mabaso of Allanridge Detective Services.
