A 21-year-old man from Kutlwanong was arrested for drug possession and dealing after officers from the Welkom Anti-Gang Unit acted on a tip-off and caught him with drugs suspected to be Nyaope, valued at approximately R1 500.
The arrest took place on Saturday, April 5, in Kutlwanong. Members of the Anti-Gang Unit tracked down the suspect and witnessed what appeared to be a drug transaction between two men exchanging small plastic bags. One of the suspects escape. |The other fled into a nearby house and was apprehended. Searching the suspect, police discovered cash and 42 small plastic wraps believed to contain Nyaope. Eight grams of the substance was seized. “The suspect was arrested for dealing and possession of drugs,” confirmed Sergeant Palesa Thabana, spokesperson for the Lejweleputswa SAPS Media and Liaison Office.
